Buddha Maya Gardens, located in Lumbini, renowned for its stunning surroundings and environmentally friendly atmosphere, has taken a green step by installing a 110.7 kWp solar power system with Gham Power. With strong support from the hotel team, the project was completed smoothly, making the hotel’s energy more reliable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective for daily operations and guest comfort.
From High Costs to Smart Solar Savings
Before switching to solar, Buddha Maya Gardens relied on a 200 kVA transformer and an 80 kVA diesel generator to meet its daily power needs. This setup often led to issues such as high electricity bills, voltage fluctuations and unreliable power, which at times disrupted hotel operations and impacted guest comfort. These challenges not only increased costs but also made it difficult to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for visitors.

How Solar Power Transformed Energy Reliability
The switch to solar has significantly strengthened Buddha Maya Gardens’ energy infrastructure. With the new solar system in place, Buddha Maya Gardens now enjoys better power quality, reduced reliance on generators and lower electricity bills, saving around 10% in the first year alone. This transition has strengthened its image as an eco-friendly destination, adding value to the brand at a time when travelers increasingly prefer sustainable accommodation. Overall, this shift has supported their green marketing efforts, enhanced the guest experience and reflected the hotel’s long-term commitment to sustainable tourism.
Environmental Impact: A Cleaner Future for Lumbini
Beyond cost savings and reliability, the solar installation will bring major environmental benefits. Over the next 25 years, it is expected to save around 38 kilolitres of diesel and curb 250 tonnes of carbon emissions. This shows Buddha Maya Gardens’ commitment to saving its ecological footprint and supporting a cleaner and healthier environment in Lumbini, a place known worldwide for its natural beauty and spiritual importance.

Overcoming Challenges During Installation
Installing the system was not without challenges. Gham Power’s installation team had to mount the solar panels on a raised structure, which required extra time and careful planning to ensure safety and durability. All thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, the entire project was successfully completed in just one month’s time.
A Model for Sustainable Hospitality in Nepal
With this solar transition, Buddha Maya Gardens has embraced a greener, smarter and more future-ready way of operating, where nature, comfort and sustainability align perfectly. The project not only boosts the hotel’s operational efficiency but also sets an example for the hospitality sector, showing that sustainability and exceptional guest experience can go hand in hand.
It proves that integrating renewable energy solutions can enhance guest experience while reducing environmental impact, truly a perfect blend of eco-friendly innovation and world-class service.
