Introduction: A Step Toward Greener Operations
Goyal Ispat, a leading metal factory situated in Ramgram, Parasi, has taken a major leap toward clean energy by installing Gham Power’s largest solar system to date, a massive 1320.405 kWp solar installation. This system is helping the factory save on electricity costs, improve power reliability and transition to greener operations by lowering carbon emissions and diesel consumption. By going solar, the factory is not only cutting costs but also supporting a sustainable future and becoming a role model for industries across Nepal.
Challenges Before Solar Installation
Before shifting to solar, Goyal Ispat relied on a 33kV NEA line and a 500 kVA diesel generator, along with eight transformers of varying capacities. This setup caused high electricity costs, frequent voltage fluctuations and power quality problems, which made it difficult to maintain smooth, efficient and cost-effective factory operations.
Goyal Ispat After Solar Transformation
With the new solar system in place, the factory is experiencing several operational and environmental benefits.
- Lower Electricity Costs – Solar power has helped reduce grid dependency, lowering monthly bills and optimizing energy usage.
- Cleaner Energy – The system significantly reduces the factory’s carbon footprint, helping the company contribute to Nepal’s clean energy transition.
- Reduced Diesel Consumption – Solar has reduced reliance on diesel generators, meaning cleaner operations, fewer emissions and lower fuel costs.
- Improved Power Quality – Solar power supports consistent voltage levels and better energy stability, ensuring smoother factory operations.
By adopting solar energy, the factory strengthens its reputation as a responsible and future-focused industrial leader.

Cost Savings and Long-Term Environmental Impact
In the first year alone, the factory is projected to save 2–3% on its electricity bills. But the bigger impact lies in its long-term environmental benefits. Over the next 25 years, the solar system will help replace 452 kiloliters of diesel and cut 2,970 tonnes of carbon emissions. This not only reduces pollution but also helps to protect the environment and supports a cleaner and greener Nepal. These numbers reflect the long-term value of investing in renewable energy systems.
Conclusion: Way for Industrial Solar in Nepal
The Goyal Ispat solar installation demonstrates how industries can combine operational efficiency with environmental responsibility. By choosing solar energy, the Goyal Ispat factory is saving operational costs, reducing carbon emissions, promoting renewable energy and supporting the growth of clean energy in Nepal. It now stands as a strong example for other industries looking to adopt solar and move toward a more sustainable future.
