In the calm fields of Godawari, Lalitpur, Sarita Silwal checks her tomato plants growing strong inside a plastic tunnel. Last month, she saw watery spots on the leaves and feared a disease would destroy her crop. Her family relies on these tomatoes. Worried, she opened the Super Krishak App on her phone. In seconds, its Krishi Doctor tool identified late blight and gave a simple fix in Nepali: mix 2.5 grams of copper spray with a liter of water and use it in the evening. Sarita followed the steps, and her plants recovered, saving her harvest and 20,000 rupees. “My phone felt like a JTA,” she says with a big smile.
Krishi Doctor: A Farmer’s Helper
Since its launch in May 2023, the Super Krishak App’s Krishi Doctor has supported farmers across Nepal. This clever tool looks at a photo of a sick plant and quickly figures out if it’s a bug, disease, or missing nutrients in the soil. It then shares easy tips in Nepali, often using natural solutions. With over 11,000 photos checked, it’s like having a doctor in every farmer’s hand, helping them tackle bugs, diseases, and tough weather. It started with 50 crops and 698 problems but now covers 56 crops and knows 800 more issues, getting smarter with every photo farmers send.

Improving Day by Day
At first, Krishi Doctor was correct only 65% of the time. Some farmers took blurry photos, snapped whole plants, or even tried pictures from books and papers, which confused the app. With app guides and local meetings, farmers learned to take clear photos of sick leaves and choose the right crop. Now, it’s correct 79-87% of the time for popular crops and confident in its answers 80-100% of the time. Tomatoes, making up 26% of photos, are 86% accurate. Rice (11% of photos) reaches 90%, bananas 93%, and peppers 89%. Less common crops like almonds or olives are trickier due to limited data, but the app works well for what most farmers grow.
Real Stories, Real Success
Sarita’s story is one of many. In Jhapa, a rice farmer used Krishi Doctor to spot a disease called sheath blight and saved his field with a natural spray. In Chitwan, a cucumber farmer fixed weak plants with compost after the app found a nutrient issue. If the app can’t solve a problem, like a strange issue with a neighbor’s peppers, a network of 5,000 farming experts inside the app steps in, giving answers quickly. This mix of smart tech and real people ensures no farmer is left alone.

Big Dreams for the Future
Krishi Doctor is more than a tool; it’s a step toward a brighter future. Its tech can be shared with companies selling seeds or insurance. Soon, it might warn farmers about diseases spreading nearby by checking photos and weather. The app will also add valuable crops like cardamom and special citrus and cucurbits and spices to help farmers earn more. In Nepal, where most people farm to survive, this app is a game-changer.
Hope in Every Field
As the sun sets in Godawari, Sarita walks through her healthy tomato field, her phone now a trusted friend. The Super Krishak App didn’t just save her crop; it gave her strength against bugs, diseases, and harsh weather. In Nepal’s fields, where every season tests farmers, this app brings hope, turning a simple photo into a better future, one click at a time.
