As Nepal moves toward a cleaner energy future, the focus is shifting beyond simply generating solar power to making the most of it. The question is no longer how to produce renewable energy but how to store and use it whenever it is needed.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are emerging as a critical component of modern energy infrastructure, helping homes, institutions, and industries maximize the value of renewable energy while ensuring reliability during grid disruptions. While the energy requirements of a residence differ greatly from those of a manufacturing facility, the need remains the same, which is access to dependable, efficient, and sustainable power.
At Gham Power, we believe that every energy user deserves a solution tailored to their needs. Whether it’s a residence seeking uninterrupted power, a university requiring reliable electricity for learning and research, or an industry looking to optimize energy consumption, battery storage is becoming an essential part of Nepal’s clean energy transition.
Residential Battery Storage: Smarter Living Starts at Home
Every homeowner wants reliable electricity without worrying about frequent outages or rising electricity bills. By integrating battery storage with solar power, residences can store excess energy generated during the day and use it whenever required.
One such example is our residential project for Kishor Rana, where Gham Power installed a 9.92 kWp solar system integrated with a 72 kWh battery energy storage system. Before the installation, the residence relied heavily on grid electricity, resulting in high electricity bills and reliance on diesel generators during outages. Today, the solar-plus-battery system significantly reduces electricity costs while providing uninterrupted backup power for critical loads whenever grid power is unavailable. This project demonstrates how residential battery storage not only improves energy reliability but also enables families to maximize their benefits from solar energy while reducing their environmental impact.

Reliable Energy for Education: Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology
Universities are where the next generation of innovators, engineers, and researchers are shaped. To support that mission, they need an energy system that is just as reliable as the education they provide. With this vision, Gham Power partnered with Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST) to build one of Nepal’s pioneering solar-plus-battery projects in the education sector. The installation combines a 505.6 kWp solar power system with a 500 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling the university to generate clean electricity while ensuring a dependable power supply for its daily operations.
Instead of letting excess solar energy go to waste, the battery stores it for use whenever solar production is low or the grid experiences interruptions. This means classrooms, laboratories, research facilities, and other critical infrastructure can continue operating with minimal disruption, creating a more reliable learning environment.
More than just an energy project, this installation demonstrates how educational institutions can become leaders in sustainability. By reducing reliance on grid electricity, MBUST is expected to curb an estimated 1,046 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, which sets an example of how clean energy can support education while contributing to Nepal’s low-carbon future.

Industrial Battery Storage: Large-Scale Energy for Maximum Efficiency
Industrial facilities consume large amounts of electricity, making energy reliability and cost optimization critical for business operations. Power interruptions and diesel dependence can lead to production losses, increased operational costs, and higher carbon emissions.
To address these challenges, Gham Power delivered one of Nepal’s largest industrial battery-integrated solar projects at Laxmi Steels. The project combines a 924 kWp solar power system with a 4.1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System, creating an advanced energy solution capable of supporting large-scale industrial operations.
By storing excess solar energy and intelligently managing electricity demand, the battery system enhances operational reliability, minimizes dependence on grid energy sources, and allows the industry to make better use of renewable energy throughout the day.
Over its lifetime, the project is expected to curb approximately 1,911 tonnes of carbon emissions, reinforcing how battery storage can help industries become more competitive while advancing their sustainability goals.

Building Nepal’s Clean Energy Future with Battery Energy Storage
From a 72 kWh residential battery to a 500 kWh university energy storage system and all the way to a 4.1 MWh industrial battery, Gham Power continues to demonstrate that battery storage can be effectively deployed across every sector.
Each project is unique, but they all share a common purpose: maximizing the value of solar energy, ensuring reliable power, reducing electricity costs, and accelerating Nepal’s transition to clean energy. As battery technology becomes increasingly important in modern energy systems, Gham Power remains committed to delivering innovative, scalable, and future-ready energy solutions that meet the evolving needs of residences, institutions, businesses, and industries across Nepal.
Because the future of clean energy isn’t just about generating power; it’s about storing it, managing it intelligently, and making it available whenever it’s needed.
