OUR WORK

Chetang Microgrid

Chetang Village is in the Langtang Conservation area which falls in the Gosaikunda Trail. It is mostly inhabited by Sherpas.

Gham Power recently completed the solar microgrid installation in Chetang. The total solar capacity for this project is 15.6 KWp, with 82 kWh of battery backup. The maximum capacity of the inverter is 20 KVA with additional remote monitoring and control. In total, it has 2 km of transmission line. The system also has pre-paid meters in place for monthly payment collection. The tariff is collected on a pay-per-use basis by the local community group ‘Yelhmo Sherpa Women’s Group’. Yelhmos are the indigenous/ethnic group of Sherpa community residing mainly in Helambu region of Sindhupalchowk district.

The solar power will help more than 40 households use TV, mobile, grinding mill, rice-cooker, lighting the house, and small powered furniture tools. The villagers are excited to use all the facilities from solar power. We want to thank the Chetang community for working with us from the beginning of the project and helping us carry the installation material from more than 20 km where they don’t have good road.

This project was installed in partnership with GRID Alternatives and Northland Controls !
