Kathmandu, October 11: Gham Power completed the installation of 19 streetlights at Federation of Swayambhu Management and Conservation (Swayambhunath Temple). The pure solar streetlight light up the entire temple area, which has made mobility at night convenient for the monks as well as for the people who visit the temple. The project was funded by Federation of Swayambhu Management and conservation. Swayambhunath is a historical landmark of our country. The Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath, situated on the top of a hill, west of Kathmandu, is one of the most popular, holy and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. It is also one of the popular tourist destination be it international or domestic.
This 910-watt system consists of eighteen solar panels ranging from 40-95 watts, plus a number of LED lights ranging from 12-watts to 24-watts to light up the temple area. The streetlights poles installed in the area are both single arm and double arm according to the need of the place. Lighting system has been put up at the various part of the temple area.
Gham Power began the installation on July 10, 2012 and completed it in 10 days. “It has become very easy for us to walk around the night time”, said one of the monks at the temple. The people from the Swayambhu conservation were also very happy with the installation.
